Portrait of a Poet: Manti in Gangnam, Seoul

Manti and I originally met when she responded to a facebook post I made about looking for people who wanted to have some portraits done. We originally did a fun summery photo session. When Manti needed some photos for some upcoming published writing, she reached out looking for something a little less summery, a bit more formal, and preferrably incorporating plants. The weather when we met was definitely less summery so going in search of plants outdoors just wouldn’t work. Manti suggested the COEX Mall in Seoul (yes, the one with all the books that gets crazy busy during the day) so we started there and then ventured out to a few spots I had found when scouting locations a few days before. One of them being an enclosed underpass filled with plants and clean air! (Seoul has some pretty cool hidden secrets if you wander enough.)

I so enjoyed getting to work with Manti a second time. It’s such an honor to team up with someone who is creating new things and putting themselves out there. I can’t wait to see the work you publish, Manti. Thank you for trusting me with your portraits.
